AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 2014 edition of the Republic of Texas Biker Rally saw 40 arrests for DWI. Tuesday, Austin Police released the details of their No Refusal Initiative aimed at increasing safety through the arrest of drunk drivers.

The highest breath test came in at .286, almost three times the legal limit.

  • Total DWI arrests = 40
  • Total DUI minor arrests = 0
  • High BAC Breath = .268
  • High BAC Blood = Results Pending
  • Number of Breath Samples= 16
  • Number of Blood Draws= 24
  • Number of search warrant blood draws = 19
  • Number of consent blood draws = 5
  • Percent of arrestees who refused to give a breath or blood sample = 47%
  • Breath BAC < .08 = 0
  • Breath BAC .08 < .15 = 9
  • Breath BAC .15 < .23 = 6
  • Breath BAC .24 or higher = 1

Approximately 44 percent of all breath samples collected were .15 BAC or higher.
