Hearing over growing Texas-Mexico border concern

(NBC) — Austin congressman Michael McCaul is leading a hearing Tuesday morning in Washington about a growing concern at the Texas-Mexico border.

The House Homeland Security Committee is investigating the thousands of unaccompanied children illegally crossing the border.

The group of lawmakers will also talk about ways to stop it.

The vast majority of the children have come from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, where they face increasing violence from gangs and drug cartels.

President Obama and Gov. Rick Perry are calling the issue an “urgent humanitarian situation.”
