AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police say they have identified persons of interest in a shooting that left 17-year-old Justice Rain Presto dead in South Austin on Sunday.

While the Presto’s body was found in the middle of the road in the 4500 block of Lareina Drive around 10:30 p.m., police believe the shooting happened a few blocks away.

Initially, police received a call of shots fired in the 700 block of West William Cannon Drive at an apartment complex.

Police said at least one person saw the shooting and that they had been interviewed.

“According to homicide [detectives], there doesn’t appear to be any type of threat to the community that they need to be worried about,” said APD Sgt. David Daniels. “They are just trying to interview additional witnesses to figure out what exactly happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to call APD’s Homicide Unit Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
