Victims identified in deadly crash on U.S. 290

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The victims in a deadly crash Southwest of Austin on Saturday have been identified.

The crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of West U.S. 290, near the Hays-Travis County Line. When first responders arrived, they found two cars had crashed head-on and that one of them was completely engulfed in flames.

According to Department of Public Safety officials, 28-year-old Jeffrey Edward Skrhak was driving his BMW headed east in the westbound lane of U.S. 290 when he crashed head-on with a Honda SUV traveling west.

Skrhak and the driver of the Honda, 46-year-old Frank Trenholm Lyman III, were pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

Lyman’s 5-year-old daughter and 42-year-old wife were also injured. They remain hospitalized in critical condition. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
