AUSTIN (KXAN) — A processional dating back hundreds of years made its way to the State Capitol Sunday.

Parishioners at Saint Mary’s Cathedral marched from their church on East 10th Street to the Capitol rotunda.

It’s a part of the Feast of Corpus Christi, which has been celebrated for 750 years.

“We honor what we call the blessed sacrament.. the sacrament of presence of Jesus Christ in the sacred host and we used this to bless locality,” Father Albert Laforet said. “Whether you’re in the city of Rome or many other cities, there are processions.”

2014 marked the fourth year Saint Mary’s made that walk.
