Program works to equip veterans with jobs

LOCKHART, Texas (KXAN) — Operation Dustoff took to the sky Saturday to train military veterans.

The non-profit organization trains veterans to become precision shooters so they can work as aerial predators, possibly killing feral hogs, for Helicopter Tactical Operations & Training (HTOT).

HTOT is part of the Caldwell/Hays County Feral Hog Eradication Task Force that was awarded federal grant funding for feral hog eradication.

As part of the program, veterans are offered a way to transition back into civilian life.

“A lot of the veterans that have dealt with possibly the most stressful job on the planet.. certainly one of the most stressful.. a lot of us need that,” Miles Nelson said.
