Fiery head-on crash leaves 2 dead, 2 critical

290 Fatality Car on fire

AUSTIN (KXAN)- A head-on collision in Oak Hill left two men dead Saturday morning.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. in the 12000 block of West U.S. 290, near the Travis-Hays County line.

When first responders arrived they found two vehicles had collided head-on and one of them was completely engulfed in flames.

Both drivers were found dead. One female was transported to University Medical Center – Brackenridge with life threatening injuries. A child was taken to Dell Children’s with serious injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.

The road was closed to traffic for most of Saturday while TxDOT assessed the damage left by the fire.
