Child grabbed by unknown man while walking her dog in San Marcos

Suspect had two-tone hair cut

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) – Police are asking for your help identifying a man who attempted to sexually assault a young girl late Thursday night.

According to police, the 12-year-old girl was walking her puppy in the 900 block of Sycamore Street, when the suspect grabbed her and forced her into a back yard while assaulting her.

A family member came out to check on the girl and saw the altercation.

“I came out and I saw him immediately,” said Cindy Steger. “The gate was open and he’s standing with his back to me, and her facing me. I could see she was just like terrified. He turned as fast as he could and jumped over a six foot wood fence.”

Neighbors are hoping this suspect is caught soon.

“I would think that it is an isolated case, so I’m not too worried,” said Carlos Hernandez, who lives nearby. “I’m sure the police will get to the bottom of it.”

The suspect is described as having a two-tone hair cut; blond on one side and brown on the other. He stands between 5’9″ and 5’11” tall and has a thin, fit build. He had light colored shorts, a dark shirt and a blue leather jacket.
