GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) – The Williamson County District Clerk’s Office reports residents are receiving phone calls about missing jury duty and having to pay a fine. The phone calls are from a phony caller, Clerk Lisa David says.

The phone call starts with someone claiming to be Lt. Tommy Dawson who is calling on behalf of Lisa David. The fake lieutenant tells the person who answers the phone that they have been ordered to the court house and asking them to bring money to avoid being arrested.

Williamson County doesn’t use that practice for residents who fail to show up for jury duty and clerk David has not asked anyone to make phone calls along those lines.
