Foo Fighters will play at impromptu crowdfunded concert

Foo Fighters (CNN)

(CNN) — Foo Fighters fans in Richmond, Va., have been feeling a little neglected for the past 16 years.

The band hasn’t played a concert there since 1998, even though Virginia is frontman David Grohl’s home state.

So four people tried to convince the band to come back with an Internet campaign.

Through a crowdfunding website, they set the goal of selling $70,000 worth of tickets to a hypothetical concert.

They met their goal, and the band let it be known on Twitter that they would come and play.

The date and location have yet to be set, but it will be this year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
