DALLAS (AP) — Officials for the State Fair of Texas are seeking entries for its creative arts competitions.
The competitions span 1,100 categories in 12 broader departments ranging from ceramics and hand-painted china to canning. Last year, there were about 6,000 entries. Officials hope to receive that many again. The entry deadline is July 25.
Entrants will know whether they’ve won a ribbon — first, second, third or honorable mention — several weeks before the fair starts on Sept. 26. Their works will be displayed in the Creative Arts building.
Kathy Bennett, the fair’s director of creative arts and special events, tells The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1vs0ZaZ ) that photography, the most popular category last year, has gotten more and more entries in recent years.
Categories are adjusted to respond to changes in popularity.
