Police use hostage negotitator to get man out of house

Austin (KXAN) – Austin police used a hostage negotiator to get a man to come out of a house on Saturday.

It happened in the 8100 block of Bottlebrush Drive in Northwest Austin.  Police were called to the house at 5:40 Saturday morning for a domestic dispute between a mother and son.

The man refused to leave the house to talk with officers. At 7:45a.m the man started making threats of harm to responding officers and himself.

The negotiator and SWAT teams were called out to assist.

At 11:12a.m. APD was able to get the man to come out of the house without incident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

There were no hostages involved.
