AUSTIN (KXAN) — A suspected drunk driver was met by Austin’s top police officer Friday night.

According to court documents, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo witnessed 43-year-old Marco Munoz driving in and out of his lane on South Congress, near Oltorf. Munoz also failed to use a turn signal, the affidavit said. Police pulled him over shortly before 9 p.m.

“I just turned over a DWI arrest to our DWI team,” Acevedo tweeted. “Wish folks made better choices. Glad @Austin_Police caught’m before anyone injured/killed!”

Munoz admitted to drinking three beers before his arrest, and he completed a field sobriety test. Police say Munoz showed multiple signs of intoxication, which included swaying and using his arms for balance during a one leg stand.

Munoz remained in the Travis County Jail Saturday afternoon.
