Lone Star Circle of Care gets $1M boost

AUSTIN (KXAN) – It’s just what the doctor ordered for a struggling Central Texas health care provider.

The St. David’s Foundation donated $1 million to the Lone Star Circle of Care which provides primary care services to patients who are uninsured and underinsured.

Last month, Lone Star cut $27 million from its budget, closed 17 clinics and laid off 185 employees.

The $1 million donation is meant to keep Lone Star clinics operating while they seek financial help from other partners.
