5-year-old pulled from Austin pool

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin rescue crews rushed to the city pool at Mabel Davis Park in south Austin Friday evening after a call came in for a girl who nearly drowned.

Police tell KXAN the 5-year-old was unconscious when she was pulled out of the pool by the lifeguard. According to the Parks and Recreation Department spokesperson, the parents said their daughter was in the shallow end of the pool when they saw something was wrong and pulled her out.

A lifeguard performed CPR and the girl regained consciousness.

The latest word from the scene indicates the girl was taken to Dell Children’s Hospital for observation.
