19-year-old accused of shooting at Texas officer five times

LYTLE, Texas (NBC/WOAI) — Police in Lytle, Texas, have arrested a suspect seen on a dash cam video firing at a police officer during a high-speed chase.

Matthew Arambula, 19, is in the Atascosa County Jail on charges he pulled the trigger.

Lytle police say when an officer tried to pull over Arambula for missing a front license plate, he sped off.

During the chase, the video shows the teen hit a dead end, turned around, and police say he fired five shots at the officer.

“I got up; I heard three gun shots — like ‘BOOM BOOM BOOM’ — and then I just saw a blur of a car going back that way and a police car behind it,” said Rosel Flores, who saw the incident unfold.

Arambula now faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges against a peace officer.
