Recent rains bring slight improvement to drought conditions

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The U.S. Drought Monitor for June 5 shows extreme drought (in red) in the Hill Country dropping to severe drought (in orange).

Abnormally dry conditions (in yellow) spread across the metro areas as well.

The improvement comes after taking into account last week’s rainfall. Currently more than 90 percent of Texas is in some kind of drought.
