Lifeguard shortage to delay opening of some Austin pools

AUSTIN (KXAN) — About half of the city’s pools will not open on time due to a shortage of available lifeguards.

The city’s 33 operational pools were all slated to open on Friday.

The city says they will continue recruiting efforts to fill the open lifeguard spots and hope to have the remaining pools open on June 9.
