Coast Guard rescues Texas pilot sending mayday call

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (NBC/Department of Defense) — The Coast Guard rescued a pilot from a small plane crash in Texas.

The civilian pilot was flying near Baffin Bay when he made a mayday call Tuesday. The Federal Aviation Administration received the call and alerted the Coast Guard.

A Coast Guard helicopter found the plane and was able to transport the pilot to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi.

The pilot was then taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the pilot’s name has not yet been released.
