TXDOT hosts open house about I-35 improvements

AUSTIN (KXAN) — In an effort to deal with traffic and infrastructure of Interstate 35, city and state leaders have been putting plans together in the Mobility35 Project to curb the issues.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in conjunction with the City of Austin and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) will have three different open house public meetings on improvements to I-35 between SH 45 North and SH 45 South.

Mobility 35 is proposing redoing ramps on the interstate itself, as well as upgrading intersections, and adding U-turns and roundabouts along service roads throughout Travis County.

One of the goals for the changes to I-35 is to make it friendlier for people who live near the interstate, so there’s not congestion right outside their door.

I-35 has been named the most congested in the state of Texas. Specifically between Highway 290 over to Ben White Boulevard.
