Murder trial begins in WilCo despite lack of body

Gavel - KXAN File

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — A Williamson County jury is hearing opening statements Tuesday in a murder case dating back to 1991 despite the fact police never found the victim’s body.

Rex Nisbett, 53,  is accused of murdering his wife, Vicki,  in 1991 as the couple were going through a divorce.

Her body was never found.

The district attorney at the time, Ken Anderson, never prosecuted the case because he felt there was not enough evidence without investigators having discovered a body.

Now, 23 years later, district attorney Jana Duty feels the circumstantial evidence is strong enough to bring the case before a jury.

There have only been four murder convictions in cases  where a body was never recovered in Texas history.
