Man drowns in Fayette Co. stock tank

FLATONIA, Texas (KXAN) — A 27-year-old man is dead after drowning in a stock tank Sunday evening, Fayette County Sheriff’s Keith Korenek reports.

A witness told deputies the man was swimming around 8 p.m. in the pond near Highway 90 and the Gonzales County Line when he became too tired to swim to shore.

Deputies say the witness was unable to swim and unable to help the man in the water.

The victim had been underwater for a long time when emergency responders arrived.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens were called in to help find the victim’s body.
