Wayward horses leave deputy injured

FREYBURG, Texas (KXAN) — A Fayette County deputy was injured Friday while working a on a call involving loose horses Friday.

Deputy Rick Bohlmann was herding the horses off of FM 956 near Falke-Henrich Road and into a fenced area when one of the horses turned, and kicked the deputy in the arm and midsection.

Bohlmann was able to call for help from other deputies and emergency medical units.

He was taken from the scene by ambulance to St. Mark’s Medical Center where he had immediate surgery for a fractured arm.

Bohlmann has since been released from the hospital and recovering at home.
