91-year-old cancer survivor runs into record books

SAN DIEGO (CNN/KSWB) — Here’s something to bust any excuse you may have for not working out today.

Check out Harriette Thompson.

The 91-year-old ran her way into the record books on Sunday when she completed the San Diego Rock ā€˜nā€™ Roll marathon.

It took her seven hours seven minutes and 42 seconds to run the 26.2-mile course.

The North Carolina resident set a record for the fastest time for a woman over 90. The previous record was just under 10 hours.

Thompson, who is a cancer survivor, ran to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

And get this: She didn’t run her first marathon until she was 76.
