Man booked after meeting teen on Craigslist

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A 31-year-old Austin man was arrested Thursday afternoon after police say he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl he met through Craigslist.

According to the arrest affidavit, Joshua “Josh” Rube exchanged photos with the girl as she replied to an advertisement for a job that offered pay, food and a free room in a house in exchange for help with “adult video work.”

Police began investigating the case after the girl’s mother discovered the emails between Rube and her daughter.

Court documents show the girl told Rube she was 16 and he agreed to meet her anyway.

According to court documents the actual assault happened on March 30, when Rube picked the girl up and drove her to his apartment.

Police arrested Rube May 29th and booked him into the Travis County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
