KANSAS CITY, Mo. (NBC/KSHB) — Proud parents and staff present the first penguin chick at the Kansas City Zoo.

The chick hatched Sunday.

Covered with soft, gray down feathers, the chick is being closely watched and fed by both Humboldt penguin parents.

The yet-unnamed baby is undergoing a four-day physical exam during which it will be weighed and inspected.

Another egg from different penguin parents is due to hatch in about a week.
