AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Parks and Recreation Department is pulling out a new incentive to fill lifeguard job openings.
To help lure teen applicants, the Department is offering free pizza, drinks and dessert.
The city hopes to fill those vacancies and get everyone trained by the end of the school year.
The job fair will be at the Aquatic Division Office on 400 Deep Eddy Ave. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
City staff will be there to help with the online application, and computers will be available.
Things to know before heading out
- Take ID and social security card

- Applicants 15- to 16 years old need parent present for interview
- 17-year-old applicants need parent’s signature
Starting June 6, a day after Austin Independent School District closes for the summer, people will be able to take a dip in the 50 public pools the city operates. All the pools will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Lifeguards will also get a $0.50 raise this year. People older than 17 years old will make $10.25 an hour.
