350 lifeguards still needed in Austin for summer

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city is still looking to hire 350 lifeguards for the summer.

The city is trying to hit their goal of signing on 750 workers, the most ever. Last year they set the bar at 600.

They are also trying to entice workers over the age of 17 by upping the pay from $9.75 an hour to $10.25 this year.

A job fair will be held Friday at the Aquatic Office, 400 Deep Eddy Ave., from 4-8 p.m. Free pizza, drinks and dessert will be provided.

Things to know before heading out

  • Take ID and social security card
  • Computers and staff are available to help with online application
  • Applicants 15- to 16 years old need parent present for interview
  • 17-year-old applicants need parent’s signature
