Police: Van ran red light in Pflugerville crash that injured 4

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) – Two children were taken by helicopter to the hospital after a crash at State Highway 130 and Kelly Lane on Thursday.

The 3-car crash happened along the northbound SH 130 service road and Kelly Lane just after 2 p.m.

Pflugerville Police tell KXAN News the crash happened when a black minivan ran a red light while headed northbound on the SH-130 frontage road. It hit two eastbound cars going through the green light on Kelly Lane.

All of the occupants in the minivan were rushed to area hospitals. The occupants of the other two vehicles refused medical treatment at the scene.

The children, 1 and 3-years-old, were taken by STAR Flight to Dell Children’s Medical Center, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. The 3-year-old had injuries that were potentially life-threatening, Pflugerville police said. The 1-year-old was listed in stable condition.

The infant was in a rear-facing seat and the 3-year-old was in a front-facing car seat.

Two adults were taken by ambulance to Round Rock Medical Center.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.

Police closed the intersection for several hours as investigators surveyed the scene and crews cleaned up debris.

Alternate Routes

Parents of students going to Hendrickson High School, Kelly Lane Middle School and Murchison Elementary School will need to use alternate routes. Police suggest using Pflugerville Parkway, Colorado Sands Drive, and Wilke Lane.
