Plane crash survivors plucked from river

RIO DE LA PLATA (NBC/RTV/ARGENTINE SECURITY MINISTRY) — Survivors were pulled from the wreckage of a plane crash in the river separating Argentina and Uruguay.

Five passengers died when the plane traveling from San Fernando, in Argentina, to Carmelo, in Uruguay, went down Tuesday.

Dramatic video showed an Argentine Naval Police Rescue helicopter lifting the injured survivors to safety.

Two were taken to a hospital in Argentina with minor injuries.

Another two were hospitalized in Uruguay in serious condition.

Authorities are investigating what caused the crash.

The plane’s owner, Federico Bonomi of the Kosiuko clothing line, said the plane was new and in top condition. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
