Austin Parks and Recreation issued this statement Wednesday morning:

“The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has temporarily closed Barton Springs Pool due to flooding.  A media advisory will be distributed as soon as staff determines a reopening date.”

Officials often close the pool following heavy rains so crews can clear debris and inspect the pool for any safety issues.

The pool was also recently closed to remove and replace utility poles and electric lines near the pool as part of the ongoing Grounds Improvement Project.

Located in Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 70 degrees.
