McDonald’s introduces new ‘Happy’ character to US

AUSTIN (KXAN) — McDonald’s introducing its “Happy Meal” ambassador to the United States for the first time ever on Friday, named “Happy.”

 

The mammoth fast-food chain’s animated character will — in addition to bring excitement to kids’ meals — be an ambassador for balanced and wholesome eating, according to McDonald’s.

Interestingly enough, he’s not new.

Introduced to children and families in France in 2009, Happy’s made his way to Latin America and other countries in Europe.

Still, Happy’s new to America, and he’s definitely generating a range of emotions — something Happy seems keen to as he surfs through social media and the rest of the Internet world. Check out this tweet:
