Person escapes as flames consume Georgetown home

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) A Georgetown home sustained significant damage after it caught fire Friday afternoon.

Georgetown Fire Department Chief John Sullivan says no one was injured in the blaze at a multi-story home in the 300 block of Norwood Drive. Crews were dispatched to the home near Leander Road and Interstate 35 at about 4:20 p.m.

When firefighters arrived heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house, Sullivan said.

A young adult was at home when the fire started, but escaped to safety.

Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
