East Austin overnight shooting hospitalizes two men

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two men are in the hospital after an overnight shooting in East Austin.

It happened at 7607 Blessing Ave. near Pickle Elementary School around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Austin police say the men were shot multiple times and were then taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Both are expected to recover.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was last seen running southbound on Blessing.

Meanwhile, police are still searching for the suspect, whom witnesses describe as a black man who stands 5′ 7″ tall with tattoo lettering on his face.

“Multiple officers responded and set up a perimeter,” said Austin Police Lt. Scott Elhert. “We had K-9 units and air unit respond.”

Police combed the area for about 30 minutes before determining the suspect was not in the perimeter.
