AUSTIN (KXAN) — Films from the early 1930s to the late 80s will be making a comeback on the big screen in Austin.
The Paramount is kicking off their annual Summer Classic Film series Thursday May 22 with the 75th anniversary screening of “The Wizard of Oz.”
“Our Paramount100 focus on the 1930s will hand off the baton to the Summer Classic Film Series as we kick off with a whole week of classics from 1939, celebrating the 75th anniversary of Hollywood’s golden year,” Stephen Jannise, film programmer at the Paramount and Stateside Theaters, said. “I’m so excited to be opening with The Wizard of Oz this year, a treasured favorite that will set a high bar for a summer of equally beloved classics and, hopefully, some new discoveries!”
The series runs from May through September.
