VERSAILLES, Ky. (CNN/WAVE) — To buy a home fit for kings and queens, you may have to raid the royal treasury.
A castle in the middle of horse country in Versailles, Ky., is now on the market for eight figures.
Fit for royalty, the Post Castle is now for sale.
“$30 million is the price tag, and he’s firm on the price,” said realtor Charles Martin.
So, what does $30 million get you? 12,000 square feet of pure opulence and everything in it — from the china to the artwork.
Miami attorney Tom Post bought the castle in 2003. A few months later, a fire broke out. Then, the reconstruction began — to include 16 bedrooms, a music room, library and man cave.
Stars like William Shatner and Faith Hill have stayed overnight.
“Saudi princes rent the place for two weeks,” said Martin. “We had Rolex here for the World Equestrian Games.”
Taking the elevator to the third floor leaves you at the roof garden.
“This is the roof garden, and we have big events here,” said Martin. “And we have a bar in the one corner there.”
Turrets on every corner, the roof garden provides a view of the private tennis court.
There are even apartments inside, providing unforgettable experiences — especially for one newlywed couple.
“The young fellow had to scale down the wall in his underwear and knock on the door of the castle. It was the middle of winter,” said Martin.
So, why sell?
Martin says the market for high-ticket real estate is hot — with interest pouring in from Chinese and Russian millionaires.
“Every day is a fishing day, but not every day is a catching day,” said Martin. “That’s why I have it listed — to catch the big fish.”
