BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) – A 15-year-old boy with autism missing from his Bastrop house was found safe at a friend’s home on Thursday.

Jacob Gabriel Schmidt had last been seen at his home in the 100 block of Overhill Road on Tuesday at 11 p.m.

Police said he was found at a home just a few blocks away from where he was reported missing. They added Schmidt will return home Thursday night and it appears he left his home willingly.

Earlier Report:

Schmidt was wearing camouflage pants and black combat boots and may be carrying a multi-colored blanket.

Authorities in Bastrop say they have stopped searching the area for Schmidt but continue to follow up on leads on his whereabouts.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said Thursday they were sending a team to the area to search for Schmidt.
