AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s 1 a.m. at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and there are people running around with masks and guns and there are bodies on the ground.

Thankfully, the chaotic scene was only for training purposes.

Early Wednesday morning, the Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department, Austin-Travis County EMS, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and TSA were all involved in a tactical exercise simulating an active shooter scenario.

A part of the terminal was sectioned off from 1 a.m. – 3 a.m. for the training.

In a video provided by the City of Austin, the training had several people portraying shooters, officers clearing the scene and emergency crews carrying out injured victims.
