AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Career Expo hosted by the City of Austin Tuesday will feature more than four thousand jobs.

Everything from technology to manufacturing, education, and construction will be available.

“Even though our economy is very vibrant and our unemployment rate is less than four percent we know that still there are people who remain unemployed and under employed,” said Mark Washington, Human Resources Director with the City of Austin.

Eighteen departments within the city are currently hiring. The fleet maintenance division has four mechanic positions available.

“We are currently hiring for mechanics of all different kinds of levels and what’s great is a technician can come in with as little as six months experience and begin working for us,” said Julie Boring, Fleet Division Manager.

The Expo lets job seekers meet the managers before they even apply.

“We might be able to set up an interview a little bit faster in the process instead of you applying online and waiting for a phone call,” said Boring.

The featured jobs at the Expo can be found here.

The Career Expo takes place Tuesday at the Palmer Events Center from noon until 4:30p.m.
