KILLEEN, Texas (AP/KCEN) — Mourners gathered in Central Texas to remember a Killeen police officer who was fatally shot while trying to serve a warrant.

A funeral was held Saturday for 47-year-old Detective Charles “Chuck” Dinwiddie. The service was held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, with burial at the Killeen Cemetery.

Dinwiddie and three other officers were shot May 9 while trying to serve a warrant at a residence. Dinwiddie died two days later. Two of the other injured officers were treated and released. The third wounded officer was hospitalized for several days for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg.

A suspect remains jailed and faces attempted capital murder charges. Charges could be upgraded following Dinwiddie’s death.
