Food trucks battle it out

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Many Austin restaurants were packed Saturday because of UT graduation, and some people got a different take on lunch.

The Asian American Resource Center hosted Rice: A Celebration of Asian American Culinary Pursuits. Five food trucks duked it out by creating their best rice dish, and folks from across Austin got to vote on their favorite vendor.

“I didn’t know it was a competition,” attendee Johnny Chang said. “Hopefully it’s a friendly competition. The festival focused on the history of rice.”

In addition to the food, there were games to play and the kids got to enjoy arts and crafts.
