DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) — There’s an owlet update to bring you Friday, thanks to a family keeping close tabs on their owl box in Dripping Springs.

KXAN News Today’s Digital Download first brought you the story in early May about a pair of fuzzy owlets.

Our Dawn Denny shared the photos, though her daughter Grace did all the brave photography work — getting up there to snap a picture of the two screech owls that hatched in their owl house.

Now, there are three healthy baby screech owls and another egg.

While Mama Owl was in the house during the last photo op, she didn’t seem to be home this time around — probably out fetching some food for the little ones.

Still, the trio seemed to love their time in front of the camera. And with fluffy faces as cute as theirs, it’s understandable.

In case you’re wondering, owl boxes, like bat boxes, can be purchased and set up around the home — or anywhere you want an owl to live. It’s provides the perfect little space for owls to thrive, especially during the spring as their babies hatch.

Dawn’s owl box isn’t the only one home to new guests; Abby Satori sent in pictures via our ReportIt feature of owlets in her Southwest Austin owl box.

The Austin area’s been abuzz with critters popping up and buzzing about — where it’s birdies, and bunnies, and snakes! Oh, my!
