Catapulting robber caught on camera

An armed man jumps over a counter at a San Marcos convenience store.

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Police are looking for two men who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint on Wednesday in San Marcos.

The robbery happened at the Sac-N-Pac, 1636 Aquarena Springs Drive, about 8:15 p.m. and was captured on the store’s surveillance camera.

One man armed with a pistol jumped over the counter, demanding money from both registers. The cashier quickly complies. One customer takes off running to the back of the store.

Another man holding a rifle blocked the door while the registers were emptied.

The robber behind the counter snatched money from two registers before fleeing on foot. The two were last seen running towards the State Flats Apartments.

Police said no one was injured but they are worried the two may attempt more robberies in the near future. The whole incident took about 30 seconds.

The store told its employees not to speak on camera, but most customers were surprised the robbery happened in this area, only a few miles from Texas State University.

“I work next door,” said a woman named Michelle. “I’ll lock up now. It’s scary. Investigators came over to ask us about it, and of course, we didn’t know anything.”

The men are believed to be Hispanics in their late teens to early 20s. They were each wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black pants and hid their faces with black masks.
