City to host job fair: still need 500 lifeguards

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Parks and Recreation Department Aquatic Division will host a lifeguard job fair on Friday in hopes of filling the 500 positions they still need to fill for the summer.

City staff will provide pizza, drinks and dessert at the lifeguard job fair. Department officials said they are still actively searching to fill the 500 vacant positions to run city pools for the summer months.

The job fair will be at the Aquatic Division Office on 400 Deep Eddy Avenue from 4 to 8 p.m. City staff will be on site assisting attendees with the online application. Computers will be available.

Applicants should bring identification and their social security card to complete the application process. Applicants who are 15 or 16-years-old must have a parent present to interview. 17-year-old applicants will need to provide a parent signature. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
