AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Austin confirmed Wednesday they mistakenly overpaid an employee $200,000.

The man worked as a paramedic and received the payments over an eight-year span.

However, by law the city could only recoup money the man received during the last two years.

The city ended up cutting a deal with the worker, in which he’ll repay the city just $6,000. That money is expected to be repaid in installments over the next three years. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
