Northeast Austin apartment shooting hospitalizes two

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people were rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge after being shot at an apartment complex in Northeast Austin on Tuesday evening.

Police responded to the Las Colinas Apartments at 1500 Reagan Hill Drive near Reagan High School after receiving several calls about the shooting around 8:30 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived at the apartments they were able to quickly get to the first victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. But crews weren’t able to get to the second victim until about 9 p.m. The two were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities are trying to determine if an assault that happened earlier in the night might be connected to the shooting.

Police said the apartment unit had been cleared and the shooting suspect(s) had not been caught.
