Body of missing paddleboarder found

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Search teams found the body of a paddleboarder that went missing Saturday evening.

Medics received the call Saturday about 7:05 p.m. and were on scene within 10 minutes, an AFD spokesperson said.

The search took place near Red Bud Isle on Lady Bird Lake.

Medics said they shifted to recovery mode about 7:40 p.m. Saturday.

An Austin Police Department dive team assisted with the search.

“With recovery mode, you’re going into a longer more in-depth search,” said Andre De La Reza. “They’ll be using dive lights and scuba gear most likely to continue looking for that as well as tracking down other possibilities to see if maybe he got out somewhere else where his friends didn’t see him get out.”

An Austin Police Department dive team is assisting with the search.
