A shed fire spread to a North Austin church late Sunday night.

Several 911 callers reported seeing heavy fire and smoke at around 11:30 p.m. at Grace of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church on Putnam Drive, near U.S. Highway 183.

Austin firefighters found two sheds ablaze, and the fire spreading to the outside of the church. They extinguished the fire in less than 15 minutes.

The flames destroyed one shed and damaged the other, but the firefighting efforts spared the interior of the church from smoke or water damage.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.  A spokesperson said Austin fire investigators will look into reports that people were running from the scene when the fire began. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
