AUSTIN (KXAN) — In February Austin police found Cynthia Castillo lying dead on the floor after they were dispatched to check on her welfare. Now, they’re asking for help in solving her mysterious death.

Over the past few months detectives have been trying to piece together what happened to the 47-year-old woman during the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 22.

When they found her on the floor of an apartment in Solaris Apartments on 1515 Royal Crest Drive she had apparent injuries to her head. After they were able to examine her body, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office determined blunt force injuries to be the cause of death.

Authorities are trying to locate someone who may have witnessed Castillo’s death – Franklin Guardado, a 30-year-old Hispanic male. Detectives think Guardado has information that may lead them closer to solving Castillo’s case. They believe he is driving an old black Honda.

This is an on-going investigation. Auhorities are asking anyone with information regarding Castillo’s death to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
