Students get chance to make elevator pitch

AUSTIN (KXAN) – College students got the chance to make their elevator pitch to fund their business ideas at the UT Tower Saturday.

Participants from colleges across the world had one minute to pitch their business to a judge inside an elevator going up the tower. Organizers said the students brought many ideas to the table.

“We’ve got interesting brand new foods,” Dr. Rob Adams, director of UT Venture Labs said. “We’ve got interesting web sites. We’ve got new medical devices. We’ve got people doing everything from wearable technology… You’ve seen all these devices people wear running now. There’s people actually integrating those into clothes here.”

The elevator pitch was not the students’ only chance to pitch their business ideas. Each will have the opportunity to present at least three times during the competition.
